Expect Additional DWI Checkpoints And Patrols During The Holiday Season.

The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission has awarded several law enforcement agencies throughout the state grants to pay for increased DWI checkpoints and “saturation patrols” during the busy holiday season.  This increased law enforcement will concentrate on areas which include bars, clubs, and college campuses.  The parishes affected by this increased police presence include: East and West Baton Rouge ParishesSt. Tammany Parish; St. Bernard Parish; Orleans ParishJefferson Parish; Ouachita Parish; and Calcasieu Parish.

As always, if you’ve had too much to drink, don’t drive.  While it is important to always obey traffic laws, it is especially important late at night when law enforcement authorities look for any excuse to stop drivers and screen them for drinking and driving. If you find yourself being questioned by law enforcement, do not say anything which may incriminate yourself.  We wish you, your friends and family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
